Snowshoes - Ojibwe (11" x 54") 160+ Lbs.

Product Code:ACGVSSOJIBWE

This model takes its name from the Ojibwe First Nation of Canada that established itself along the great Canadian lakes of Ontario, in Western Canada and North Central United States. The Ojibwe model has the most interesting and unique shape of all the wooden traditional snowshoes. This model has similarities with ancient snowshoes used by old civilizations from Siberia, Greenland and Scandinavia many centuries ago. Its unique shape provides a great flotation in open forests and fields where there is a lot of snow. Its narrow and lifted nose, combined with its long narrow tail, provide great gliding properties in downhill on hard snow. Might it be the ancestor of the modern alpine ski? Quiet and stable, it is a good all around snowshoe for long distance adventuresMeasures: 11" X 54"; Optimal Flotation: 160 pounds and up; 5 year manufacturer's warrantyGV Traditional Snowshoes feature frames constructed of Appalachian white ash and lacing made of raw cowhide. A high quality varnish keeps the rawhide and the frame in good condition. Harnesses sold separately.Note: It is recommended to apply varnish once a year at the end of the season to prevent the wood frame and raw hide to absorb moisture and water. That will extend the life of your natural snowshoe. We recommend using a marine varnish designed for wooden boats.
